v10. Wherefore David blessed the Lord before all the congregation: and David said, Blessed be thou, Lord God of Israel our father, for ever and ever.
v11. Thine, O Lord is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O Lord, and thou art exalted as head above all.
David’s prayerful song of thanksgiving and praise to the Lord continued in joyous enthusiasm, as he proclaimed with great jubilation, “Yours, O Lord, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the majesty and the splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is Yours. Yours, O Lord, is the kingdom. You are exalted as Head over all.”
Descriptions of God’s majesty can be found throughout the Scripture. “Around God is awesome majesty.” (Job 37:22), He is “clothed with splendor and majesty.” (Psalm 104:1). His right hand is “majestic in power.” (Exodus 15:6) “How majestic is [His] name in all the earth.” (Psalm 8:9) “The voice of the Lord is majestic.” (Psalm 29:4). In fact everything about Him is great.
Psalm 8 leads us to declare: “O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” When we pair a high view of God, with His sacrificial, unending love for us, we’ll find ourselves incapable of anything but responding in worship.
The Lord is indeed worthy of receiving the exultant praise that David offered in his hymn of praise, for the heaven, the earth, and the entire universal creation came to be through His might and wisdom.
Time and space and all that exists belongs to Him, and in His grace, He permitted David to make preparation for the magnificent Temple that his son Solomon would one day build.
Neither an everlasting string of superlative words nor a never-ending chorus of angelic praise can adequately express in speech or song, the magnificent of God’s awesome glory, the extent of His vast kingdom, the might of His great power and the splendor of His gracious majesty.
The mind of man cannot begin to comprehend this incomprehensible God, Who has bestowed on us all the unsearchable riches of His grace. He has lavished on us, over and abundantly and above all that we could ask or think or imagine or desire, in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ.
It is the God of the universe, who flung stars into space at the beginning of time, and who continues to uphold creation through His eternal Word, that was willingly stripped of everything, for our sake.
Let us worship Him together in the beauty of holiness, reverence, and with great rejoicing, for He is exalted over all and He is highly to be praised
Technologically advanced world had made many to relegate God to an accessory who makes our lives better. Many have lost sight of God’s majesty. The loss of the sense of majesty, has also lead to the further loss of religious and consciousness of the divine Presence.
We have lost our spirit of worship and our ability to withdraw inwardly to meet God in adoring silence.” Focusing on God’s majesty reminds us that He is God and we are created to worship Him.
